Direct-link versions of Digg feeds
If you want to follow the top links on Digg via RSS, you’ll notice that the RSS feeds do not contain these top links, but point to pages on Digg itself. Which is fine if “Digging” (= one-click tagging*) and commenting is your priority before reading the linked stories. But most likely you’ll want to go directly to the story, so the extra click via Digg is not really practical. That’s why I made these “Linklog” Feeds, with direct links to the top stories, but still containing the link to the Digg Page in the RSS item description so can still go comment or Digg immediately as well. (Digg this list or bookmark it for further reference)
Digg alternate feeds list, updated August 24th 2006
Since the July upgrade, the Digg Frontpage is identical to the Technology overview page, whereas the “All stories” page spans all categories going from entertainment to science.
The number of domains Digg covers has been expanded and ordered into main categories and subcategories:
- Digg Technology: Link Log
- Digg Science: Link Log
- Digg World & Business: Link Log
- Digg Sports: Link Log
- Digg Videos: Link Log
- Digg Entertainment: Link Log
- Digg Gaming: Link Log

Appreciate your effort, it serves my Firefox/Sage well. Unfortunately, feedburner somehow force gzip encoding, rendering my other not-so-advanced ‘browser’ (iSiloX) powerless.

Great now I really can use digg feeds on my mobile phone’s RSS reader. The digg page with all the comments took ages to load. How did you do this? I have some feeds which I would like to convert in a similar way. I registered at feedburner now but I cannot see how you did the conversion. Could you provide a HOWTO or links to the documentation on feedburner describing theis feature?
Thanks

Thanks for the list. I have writen a post on various features missing from Digg(at http://binnyva.blogspot.com/2006/09/top-5-features-missing-from-digg.html) and Linkless RSS feed was one of my main complaints.
Now, even if Digg don’t improve their feed, I can subscribe digg from Firefox.

Just found this while checking what you’re up to these days, and appreciate it very much (I didn’t subscribe to digg when you first published this, so apparently wasn’t interested then).
Feature request: could you add a pubdate property to each item?
And what _are_ you up to? Too busy working to post new articles? ;) (That’s certainly true for me at the moment…)

This is a great feed, however, I’m frustrated by how infrequently it updates. It’s a lot slower than the official digg feed.

this is great; would it be more difficult to offer a NYTimes feed that linked directly to the print (ad-free) view, using a similar tactic? that would be great.

The “(Digg and comment this)” links do not go to digg.com. Rather, they point to whichever site you use the feed on. I’d be very grateful if this was fixed :-)

Nick, this works fine for me using Google Reader and just tested it using Bloglines as well and everything works.

Hey AJ, did the feeds go down yesterday and today?
I’m not getting any stories since Mar 29
April 1st, 2007 at 02:36
I’m not using these feeds. They’re not updated frequently enough.

I can’t live without them

Hey, can you release the code to your feed filters?
The feeds right now don’t check on digg often enough and lose tons of articles.
I’d like to run the feeds more often on my own server for my own private use.

Yeah, my feed is down too… along with a bunch of other feeds using the API. I think they caught on and banned by IP address. My server can’t even look at main page anymore.
April 13th, 2007 at 03:27
They started blocking IPs? that’s so evil.
why force your users to read all that crap? fine, they can put ads in the feeds, just dont’ waste my time going to the slow-loading page.
